Flag Football Tournament Rules

Good sportsmanship is a must in this league.
Any form of agression that resembles a fight - removal from the tournament with no refund.
Field of Play - 70 yards with yard markers.
Players - All teams will play 7 per side. Minimum of 1 female on the field. Every 3rd play has to be thrown to female or they have to be the quarterback.
Substitutions - Unlimited
- Substitutions may be made once the ref has acknowledged that a substitution can be made.
- The player leaving and entering the field does so at midfield and/or without gaining an unfair advantage.
Player Equipment - We will provide belts and balls. Shorts or pants must not have pockets to avoid penalties and finger injuries. Metal cleats are not allowed. SEE IF NATHAN HAS BALLS
Game Format - Games will be played with two 21-minute halves, and a 5-minute half time. Everyone is guaranteed 3 games. There will be no overtime periods in regular games. Playoff games with end in sudden death after the regular game time.
Defensive Fouls

Defensive pass interference
The player significantly hinders an eligible receiver’s opportunity to catch the ball.
Yardage: Automatic first down -
Holding
The player restrains another player who is not in possession of the ball.
Yardage: +5 yards and automatic first down

Stripping
A player smacks or grabs the football out of the ball-carrier’s possession.
Yardage: +10 yards and automatic first down

Offensive Fouls

Screening, blocking or running with the ball
The player uses physical attempts to gain yardage by obstructing the path of their opponent.
Yardage: -10 yards and loss of down

Charging
The player challenges their opponent for space without using their arms or elbows.
Yardage: -10 yards and loss of down

Flag guarding
The ball-carrier intentionally obstructs the defender’s access to their flag
Yardage: -10 yards and loss of down

Defensive Penalties

Unnecessary roughness
Using methods beyond what is necessary to pull the flag off the opponent.
Yardage: +10 yards and automatic first down

Unsportsmanlike conduct
Examples include excessive celebration, using abusive language, punching or kicking an opponent.
Yardage: +10 yards and automatic first down

Offside
A player crosses the line of scrimmage before the ball is snapped
Yardage: +5 yards from the line of scrimmage and automatic first down

Illegal Rush
The rusher is not lined up at least seven yards off the line of scrimmage.
Yardage: +5 yards from the line of scrimmage and automatic first down

Illegal flag pull
A player pulls the flag off an opponent before they have full possession of the ball.
Yardage: +5 yards from the line of scrimmage and automatic first down

Roughing the passer
A player makes contact with the passer after they’ve thrown a forward pass.
Yardage: +5 yards from the line of scrimmage and automatic first down

Taunting
A type of unsportsmanlike conduct where the player purposely creates ill will between teams.
Yardage: +5 yards from the line of scrimmage and automatic first down

Illegal motion
Players shifting and not coming to a complete stop before the ball is snapped

Team fails to snap the ball and put it in play

Impeding the rusher
The rusher’s path or line is occupied by a moving offensive player.

A technical rules violation, such as illegal formation.
